A NOTE ON VILLAINS.

so here's the scoop: villains will be allowed for play at [info]newknights! but not just yet.

for the first three months or so, the focus will be on the vigilantes. there will be crime to stop, with minor player-controlled crooks, and with some bigger villains stirring up trouble as well. these villains will be comfortable and familiar, batman canon baddies making their debut into crime within the game with mod-controlled NPCs. i won't say who, but your heroes will be going up against some of gotham's infamous faces!

once these threats are taken care of, the mods will begin integrating mod-created NPCs. some may seem familiar, based off of other famous pop-culture villains, and others will be completely new and different. once these bad boys and girls are familiar to the player base, a number of them will become open for adoption: players will be allowed to take the reins, creating or fleshing out back stories for these characters.

"oh no!" you might be thinking. "i had a really great idea for a criminal!" no problem. i am very willing- hoping, really- that people will app civilians with the intention of having them turn to either villains or vigilantes. this is a place to play out an origin story!

think of the villain situation as training wheels on the bike: the canon NPCs are like riding with two training wheels. as everyone in the game becomes more confident in the tone and pace of the game, the original NPCs are like taking off one of those wheels. once we're all ready, the wheels will come off, and almost all of the aspects of the game will be player-driven. i'm very excited and eager to work with the player base of the game, getting ideas from everyone and incorporating them into the game. i want to make sure everyone gets their moment in the spotlight!
